Havana, January 1, 2025 — Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba extended heartfelt congratulations to the Cuban people on the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and expressed gratitude for Cuba’s unwavering support during Namibia’s fight for independence.
In a letter addressed to Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, President Mbumba reaffirmed the enduring bonds of brotherhood between the two nations, forged through the solidarity of Fidel Castro, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
The letter emphasized the broader significance of Cuba’s revolutionary triumph, highlighting its impact not only on Cuba but also on Angola, Namibia, and other African nations where Cuban combatants played pivotal roles in their struggles for independence.
President Mbumba also fondly recalled his recent visit to Havana and Santiago de Cuba. He expressed honour in receiving the prestigious “José Martí Order,” Cuba’s highest state award, personally bestowed by President Díaz-Canel during his stay.
The Namibian leader’s message underscored the deep historical and diplomatic ties between the two countries, celebrating shared values of solidarity and mutual respect.
