REHOBOTH, 13 JUN – Spoilers Football Cub (FC) from Okahandja are confident of winning their top-of-the-table clash against Flamingoes in Walvis Bay on Saturday in the Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) Coastal Stream.
The men in blue and white from Nau-aib are leading the log with 11 points after six rounds of matches and have played one match more than their second-placed opponents, Flamingoes.
Spoilers coach, Boyboy Mokhatu in an interview with Nampa on Tuesday said the team is ready to battle and remain at the top of the log and win the stream.
“Our aim this season is to win the stream and try and navigate our way past the promotion play-off against the inland stream winners. Although our home form is inconsistent, we have been good on the road and have been picking up points easily.”
Mokhatu added that they will work hard to collect as many points as possible at home.
“We have shifted our focus and changed the mentality to collect points here at home. As for the weekend matches, I can promise that we will give the fans value for their money and entertain them with top class quality football,” he said.
In a midweek game slated for Wednesday, Western Spurs will host relegation-threatened and sixth-placed neighbours Northern Stars in a Walvis Bay derby scheduled for 19h00 at the Kuisebmund Stadium.
Spoilers will face Flamingoes at 14h00 at Walvis Bay’s Kuisebmund Stadium on Saturday, before locking horns with fifth-placed PC Blue Boys at 12h00 on Sunday at the Mondesa Stadium in Swakopmund.
In other matches on Saturday, PC Blue Boys will try and avenge their 5-2 hammering at the hands of Khomas Namibian Police (NamPol) in the first leg, when they entertain the men in uniform at Mondesa Stadium at 14h00.
Flamingoes will welcome Khomas NamPol to the Kuisebmund Stadium at 12h00 in the other match scheduled for Sunday.
