REHOBOTH, 29 JUN – The superintendent at St Mary’s Hospital has called on Rehoboth residents to remain calm and wait for the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MOHSS) to pronounce itself on the case of swine flu confirmed at the town.
Daylight Manyere told Nampa on Thursday the patient was transferred to Windhoek on Wednesday, where he tested positive for the H1N1 virus.
“The patient is in Windhoek and we are still establishing whether there are other cases before we can declare an outbreak,” she said.
The MOHSS on Wednesday said it would release a detailed statement on Thursday.
Symptoms of the H1N1 virus are flu-like, including illness, fever, cough, headache, muscle and joint pain, sore throat and runny nose, and sometimes vomiting and diarrhoea.
It can lead to more serious problems such as pneumonia or lung infection.
