Revelation of KING TEEDEE aiming for a mammoth 20k crowd

WINDHOEK, FEB 28 – After seeing some 10 000 revelers attend the 280918 event last year, KingTeeDee and his team have set a bigger target on luring in a total of 20 000 for this year’s segment: 280919.

At the launch of ‘the Revelation of KING TEEDEE at Pelican Café this morning, King Tee Dee – formerly known as The Dogg – explained the background of the revelation of KingTeeDee and the reason behind this years’ show.

“Firstly, last year the public showed their love and support towards the music that Mshasho and other labels have produced for over the years. Secondly, we were amazed to see the amazing support from corporates and their involvement in the music industry that I have worked very hard towards developing. Thirdly, my music has revolutionized,” he said.

He expressed gratitude toward “wonderful synergy” that was on display between Namibia and Tanzania at last year’s segment, adding that Namibian music had managed to cross our boarders and penetrate a different market.

“Diamond Platinumz and I managed to reached the number one spot on I tunes within a matter of days which shows the universal language through music. Last week I managed to premier our Namibian work on YFM, allowing our unique sound to filter South African homes and beyond. This is a radio station that I was always fond of and listened to former musicians like Zola on such platforms. It was a wonderful experience being able to share the same platform with such great mentors in the industry.”

Founder of Poiyah Media, Ilke Platt said the selection of Poiyah to host one of the biggest brands in Mshasho, was a humbling gesture.

“We must attest that being selected to host one of the biggest, if not the biggest event in the country, event is an honor being entrusted by a brand that speaks volumes and that no longer needs introduction, which is Mshasho.”

She added that the occasion presented a unique opportunity for SME’s that would like to showcase their products and services at this year’s event.

“We urge all SME’s to apply for a stand at this years’ event by contacting Poiyah Media via e mail info@poiyahmedia.net to receive their application form. Each stand costs N$3,000 which will allow you to  showcase your product/services to 20K attendees during the concert,” Platt re-iterated.
She further urged all corporates to show their support towards the music industry and encouraged companies to purchase tickets for their staff in bulk or gain mileage through customized packages.

This year, according to Platt, Poiyah allowed room for various suppliers with regards to ticketing, but had ultimately picked Webtickets as the designated ticket merchant.

“We would like to announce Webtickets as our vendor for all ticket sales throughout all Pick N Pay stores country wide. They have shown their professionalism through many big events in the country and we’re sure that they will allow ease at the gates this year and smooth transaction with ticket sales. Our tickets are officially on sale as from today and we urge the public to buy now and not wait for the last minute.”

Meanwhile, tournament organizer, Oye-Etuna Iimene was impressed with the outcome last year and noted that twenty-two corporates had come on board last year through its soccer tournament.

And in an attempt to cater for those “who cannot keep up with a 17-year old on the soccer field” he announced a second sports code that will take place during this year’s event.

“This year we have added another sports code, which is Volleyball  and we urge more females to take part in this year’s event. Early bird registration fees
are N$2,500 per team before May 31st and will be N$3,000 as from June 1st. Today we also launched our new website for easier registration which you may find via
http://bit.do/eJVod,” he concluded.

The proceeds of the 280918 sports tournament were given to the University of Namibia that aids the San Community and he reiterated that the same would be done
this year.

Platt added: “We have allowed our music lovers to enjoy the early bird special which are as follows until May 31. General N$30 Golden Circle N$100 and VIP N$500. As from June 1st they be sold as follows; General N$50, Golden Circle N$150 and VIP N$750. As we speak, you are able to do your transaction through webtickets website and stores
countrywide.”
