Oshakati, Aug. 20 — The seventh edition of the Top Score Oshiwana 7-A-side soccer championship started on Thursday 18 August to 21 August 2022 at Embandu Stadium in the Uukwangula settlement.
The tournament attracted a total of 80 teams and also included 16 volleyball teams from the northern areas to participate in the event.
Organizers indicated that the tournament was introduced to provide community upliftment and engagement, and it is also Namib Mills’ way of honouring dedicated and discipline sportsmen who continue to support Top Score 7-A-side tournament.
The total investment of this northern tournament is valued at N$280 000, while the tournament includes a floating trophy as well as gold, silver and bronze medals for the top three teams.
Brand manager for Top Score and Sugar King Shawapala Kandjabanga said the aim of the tournament is to encourage youths as well as to use this event as a team building initiative, creating an opportunity to get to know each other.
“More important, the tournament encourages teamwork and unity,” he said.
Kandjabanga emphasized that it is the brand’s way of rewarding devoted and disciplined sportsmen who continue to support the tournament.
The winning football team will walk away with N$10 000, a floating trophy, gold medals and a kit.
The second-placed team gets N$7 000, silver medals and a kit, while the team in the third place will get N$3 000 and bronze medals.
The winner of the volleyball tournament will get N$8 000, a floating trophy and gold medals. The second-placed team will walk away with N$5 000 and silver medals and the third place get N$3 000 and bronze medals.
