WINDHOEK, 4 JULY – Nine Namibian artists complemented by six international acts will complete a star-studded line up that will have revelers salivating when MTC hosts its 081Every1Fest.
On August 11, the Sam Nujoma Stadium will transform into a haven of musical activity when it plays host of the MTC 081Every1Fest, and the array of talent on display coupled with the rather modest admission fee of N$25 might guarantee that it will be packed to the rafters. The festival is MTCs music festival in celebration of its 100% population coverage project dubbed ‘081Every1.’
Multi-award winning Gazza as well as Nama 2018 winner Kalux are part of the local acts that will perform on the day, as well as Oteya, 2018 Best Hip Hop winner KP Illest, Sally aka “Boss Madam,” and Adora. In addition, PDK will also strut their stuff, while the inclusion of DJ sensations Afroberries and the iconic 4×4 Too Much Power will provide a mixture of genres that will provide listeners an earful.
Among the foreign-acts scheduled to light up the stage, 2018 BET winner Davido (Nigeria) will share the stage with Runtown, Heavy K and Busiswa (South Africa,) and Zimbabwean contemporary music hit-maker Jah Prayzah, in what promises to be a scintillating line-up.
MTC’s Tim Ekandjo said music-lovers in Namibia were in for a historic treat as there has ever been seen such a powerful line-up of Africa’s best artist on one stage in the country.
“This is an unbelievable line-up, in fact it is crazy but we will deliver it successfully. We have not done such a big show since 2015 when we had the Trey Songz Concert, and we know that Namibians have been waiting for the next treat. I am excited that we are taking this Fest to Katutura and making it accessible to everybody for only N$25 making this the cheapest show in the history of African shows. We do not want anybody to miss out,” he said.
Ekandjo added that the 081Every1Fest is essentially a charity event, and as such all ticket sales will be donated to charity – in particular the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia – in attempt to battle housing shortage in Namibia.
He encouraged members of the public to support the cause, adding that in addition to purchasing a concert ticket, anyone could by an additional ticket called “the donation ticket” from Webtickets at any Pick Pay outlet.
“You may buy a donation ticket of your choice and you can decide how much you wish to donate, anything between N$20-N$10,000,” he said.
Tickets will only be available at Web Tickets at any Pick n Pay outlet or online at www.webtickets.com.na and one person will be limited to 10 tickets only at a time.
Ekandjo moved to allay fears over security concerns, and assured the public that security would be very tight at the event, with strict security protocols in place to ensure the only event to talk about on the day is confined to the concert performances.
Apart from MTC, the 081EVERY1Fest has been supported by Air Namibia, Standard Bank in the gold category, The Namibian, BPI technologies, NDTC, CSS Tactical Security Namibia, Mpepo Time Link, Otesa Civil Engineering, Worldmaster, Sure Ritz Travel and My Namibia My Pride.
