BERLIN, Nov. 5– Bayern Munich has extended Harry Kane’s contract until June 2029, securing the future of the newly crowned Ballon d’Or winner for another two years beyond his previous deal.
The 33-year-old, who joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023, has scored 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances.
“For me, the negotiations were really straightforward. In my mind, I always wanted to stay here and continue what we have built,” Kane said. “I feel at home at Bayern Munich. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. My whole family is very happy here.”
Kane helped Bayern secure consecutive Bundesliga titles over the past two seasons under coach Vincent Kompany.
The England striker has finished as the Bundesliga’s leading scorer in each of his three seasons in Germany, beginning with 36 goals during his debut campaign.
He followed that with 26 league goals in the 2024-25 season, becoming the first non-German player to win the Bundesliga scoring award in both of his opening seasons.
Another 36 goals in 2025-26 confirmed his continued dominance, while his influence expanded beyond finishing as Kompany increasingly deployed him in deeper positions to help organize attacks.
Kane also established several scoring records. He reached 100 competitive goals for Bayern in just 104 appearances and became the fastest player to register 100 Bundesliga goals, achieving the milestone in his 98th league match.
His individual honors include two European Golden Shoes, Germany’s Footballer of the Year award in 2026 and the Ballon d’Or.
“This central contract extension gives us planning security. It sends a signal that the biggest goals are possible at Bayern Munich,” said Bayern sporting director Max Eberl.
Kane, who captained England to third place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, believes further success is within reach. “We are close to something really special with this club. And I am extremely proud to be part of it,” he said. (Namibia Daily News/Xinhua)
