Omafo, April 26–Ohangwena region youth to hold a mass land application on 26 July 2021.
According to the youth leader Activist stephanus Pombili, As young people they have decided to host mass land application on the 26 July 2021 in the following town in ohangwena region:
Okongo town
Eenhana town
Helao Nafidi town
During that period all the young people in ohangwena region will go and pick land application form , from all the various town council in their respective town. “we will follow promptly to make sure that our demand are met”.
” We are ready to fight our land back this time not from apartheid regime but from the Chinese and political elites to bring it back to the people”
“We have deemed necessary that land is sensitive things which every Namibia should be entitled to have regardless of their economic and social status. Ownership of land can create job, develop the region, provide shelter as land owners will build their house on those pieces of land to call home”.
Land have become a challenge nowadays as most of it benefits the elites and the Chinese people because they have the money to buy the land and with few kick backs to our leaders.
“our aim for mass land application is to ensure that all the young people in ohangwena region benefits from their mother land natural resources because is only in Namibia they will be able to acquire a peace of land but not in China neither Europe”.
We also want our leaders to take the young people serious and understand that without a piece of land we cannot do anything as young people.
According to National Census statistics of 2011, Ohangwena region is home to 245 446 people, the highest percent of the population are the young people.
The 2011 census also indicates that only 10 percent of Ohangwena’s population live in Urban area in ohangwena region and the 43% of the population aged 15 year and above were unemployed.
