FNB announces Restaurant Week winners

WINDHOEK, Sept. 14 – FNB Namibia and Urban Fork announced the winners of the 2017 FNB Restaurant Week:

1. Winner of FNB Restaurant Week 2017 – Franchise Category – John Dory’s (Windhoek)
Close runner-up was Happy.Me (Swakopmund)

2. Winner of FNB Restaurant Week 2017 – Restaurant (large) – BlueGrass (Swakopmund)
Close runner-up was Kubata (Windhoek)

3. Winner of FNB Restaurant Week 2017 – Restaurant (small) – Flamingo Bay Restaurant (Walvis Bay)
Close runner-up was The Curious Kitchen @JoJo’s (Windhoek) & Garnish (Swakopmund)

4. Winner of FNB Restaurant Week 2017 – Cafe/Bistro (large) – Aviary Cafe (Swakopmund)
Close runner-up was Village Cafe (Swakopmund)

5. Winner of FNB Restaurant Week 2017 – Cafe/Bistro (small) – Slowtown (Swakopmund)
Close runner-up was Fork N Nice (Swakopmund)

Founder and promoter of Restaurant Week, Leoni Cohen-Velida: “This year there was a lot more interest from the public as they were already aware of the event, knew what it was about, what they could win and how to enter. So, from that aspect alone it was a huge improvement from last year. There was a good turn-out and a lot of social media interaction.”

She added that most restaurants enjoy the event and numerous are very proactive and their staff highly involved, motivated and knowledgeable about the event. “Restaurants say their staff find it fun and it generates new customers. People might come across a restaurant they have never heard of, and as a result of the event, dine there. If they absolutely love it, there is a good chance they will go back. I hope that participants enjoyed the experience and look forward to next year.”
