ABIDJAN, Oct. 31 — Cote d’Ivoire’s lower house election will be held on Dec. 27, the country’s Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) announced Thursday.
“Based on the proposal from the Independent Electoral Commission, the President of the Republic has signed a decree convening the electoral colleges for the election of deputies to the National Assembly on the date of Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025,” said Ibrahime Coulibaly-Kuibiert, president of the CEI.
Coulibaly-Kuibiert said the commission must hold the vote before Dec. 31, when the current parliamentary term ends. The electoral campaign is set for Dec. 19-26, and results are expected between Dec. 28 and 30, he added, noting that any disputes must be resolved by Jan. 5 before the inaugural session on Jan. 19.
