WINDHOEK, Oct. 5 — Bank Windhoek is set to host an insightful live talk on International Trade, with a special focus on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The distinguished Honourable Lucia Iipumbu, Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, will serve as the keynote speaker for this event. Scheduled for Thursday, October 19, 2023, the live talk will be broadcast on Bank Windhoek’s Facebook and LinkedIn social media platforms.
The AfCFTA represents a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting economic integration across the African continent. Bank Windhoek’s live talk will gather experts, thought leaders and industry professionals to delve into its significance, challenges, and opportunities. The panel of speakers boasts individuals with profound insights into international trade and the AfCFTA.
The event will tackle various crucial topics, including key milestones in the implementation of the AfCFTA Agreement in Namibia. It will also explore how all stakeholders in Namibia can collaborate to make the Agreement more advantageous for the agricultural sector. A focal point of discussion will be the role of agro-processing in facilitating continental value chains and its impact on Namibia’s efforts to implement the AfCFTA.
Jacquiline Pack, Bank Windhoek’s Executive Officer of Marketing and Corporate Communication Services, expressed the bank’s commitment to the development of the agriculture sector, highlighting its pride in contributing through the Bank Windhoek Agriculture Series.
Since 2018, Bank Windhoek has been hosting various Agriculture Talk series to inform interested parties about pertinent agriculture trends and topics. This platform also enables sector experts to share their knowledge, fostering the growth and advancement of the agriculture sector.
Pack emphasized Namibia’s active participation in the negotiation process and the broader shaping of the AfCFTA’s developmental agenda. She cited the launch of Namibia’s National Implementation Strategy as a testament to the country’s dedication to these critical topics in 2023.
