TSUMEB, JUNE 24 – Tsumeb Gymnasium showed fine form when they beat Windhoek Afrikaans Private School 21 – 10 at an FNB Classic Clash Rugby match in Tsumeb over the weekend.
The visitors started off strong when De Wet Oosthuizen dotted down first in the ninth minute for a converted try by Keon Engelbrecht. The hosts then replied with a try, which seemed to light a fire in the bellies of WAP as they tightened their game and went on the attack.
The boys from Windhoek dominated the first half as Inside Centre, Keanu Engelbrecht converted a penalty for his side to lead 7 – 10 at half time.
However, the visitors strong lead came to an abrupt end in the second half as S.J. Louw and W.J. Otto of Gymnasium scored tries, which were duly converted by their Flyhalf, Bothma Keyser. Bothma, who had a flawless game with the boot, stretched the home team’s lead with a penalty goal of his own.
Tsumeb Gymnasium emerged the victors with a final score of 21 – 10 in a highly competitive match. – NDN Staffer
