WINDHOEK, 28 MAR – A 15-year-old boy was arrested by the police in Khorixas on Tuesday in connection with the theft of 30 goats.
The Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator for Kunene, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Kanyetu told Nampa on Wednesday the goats were stolen at the Bella Vista post in the Khorixas policing area.
“The owner of the goats, Edmudt Tsibeb Saturday morning released the goats for grazing led by two dogs. He said the dogs returned alone that night,” Kanyetu said.
Tsibeb went looking for the goats Sunday morning, but the search was unfruitful.
A case of stock theft was then reported at the Khorixas Police Station.
According to Kanyetu, the arrested 15-year-old boy allegedly admitted that he, along with two men, stole the goats.
The boy allegedly also told the police they slaughtered four of the goats and sold the meat to people in Khorixas.
They left the rest of the animals in the field, Kanyetu said.
The police are urging people in the Khorixas area to inform them if they see goats roaming around unattended.
The goats are valued at N.dollars 40 000.
