WINDHOEK, 02 JUL – The Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare announced that old age and disability grants will only be increased from N.dollars 1 200 to N.dollars 1 250 as from August this year.
A media release issued by Permanent Secretary, I-Ben Nashandi on Monday indicated that this increase was supposed to have been effective from April, however beneficiaries will receive a once-off grant of N.dollars 1 450 in August.
“This amount includes the N.dollars 1 250 grant for the month of August 2018 and a back pay of N.dollars 200 for the months of April, May, June and July,” Nashandi explained.
He added that eligible beneficiaries will start receiving N.dollars 1 250 as from the month of September this year, onwards.
The ministry has urged all beneficiaries to ensure that these grants are used for the welfare of themselves and their families.
