BRATISLAVA, Aug. 24 — Slovakia’s minimum wage will rise to 972 euros (1133.5 U.S. dollars) per month in 2027, up from 915 euros (1067.1 U.S. dollars) in 2026, Slovak Labour, Social Affairs and Family Minister Erik Tomas announced on Monday following a meeting of the tripartite council.
“The minimum wage next year will be 972 euros (1133.5 U.S. dollars), bringing it closer to the symbolic threshold of 1,000 euros (1166.2 U.S. dollars),” Tomas said.
The minister also presented a qualified estimate for the minimum wage in 2028, when it is expected to exceed 1,000 euros (1166.2 U.S. dollars) per month and could reach 1,016 euros (1184.8 U.S. dollars).
Extra payments for night and weekend work will also increase, as they are linked to the minimum wage. The minimum wage in Slovakia is regulated under Act No. 663/2007 Coll.
It is set annually for the following calendar year and applies as a monthly and hourly amount. Under the law, the minimum wage is set at 60 percent of the average nominal salary from two years earlier. According to Slovak Statistics Office, the average nominal salary in 2025 stood at 1,620 euros (1889.2 U.S. dollars).
Tomas added that approximately 120,000 employees are paid the basic minimum wage in 2026. If all six minimum-wage levels based on job difficulty are taken into account, the measure will affect approximately 160,000 people in 2026, some 6 percent of the country’s labor force.
