Oshakati, Aug. 7 – A 38-year-old man from Ohamwaala village in the Omusati region is lucky to be alive after he was attacked by a mob and was rushed to the Oshakati intermediate hospital on Friday.
The man, identified as Hamunime Godhard, was attacked at around 19:00 and police are now investigating a case of attempted murder.
According to police Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho, community members assaulted the victim with sticks and stones, inflicting head injuries and breaking his jaws and teeth.
It is not yet clear what led to the mob attack.
Simaho said the incident does not involve domestic violence, but excessive consumption of alcohol is suspected.
Simaho also revealed that the assailants are known to the police, although they have not yet been arrested.
