KEETMANSHOOP, 01 SEP – Keetmanshoop Mayor Gaudentia Kröhne was on Friday elected as the Keetmanshoop Agricultural Industrial and Tourism Expo (KAITE) patron at a gala dinner held here.
Delivering her acceptance speech during the same occasion, Kronhe said she undertakes to fulfill the role allocated to her to the best of her abilities, with due care and diligence.
“I promise to act in good faith and in the best interest of the community that we all serve, I promise to disclose any conflict of interest and ensure that the financial affairs of the entity are managed responsibly,” she said.
Kronhe added that she will support the KAITE committee in their endeavors by building bridges and creating channels of communication to all the communities of Keetmanshoop.
She further pleaded to the business community of Keetmanshoop to get involved and pledge their support towards the KAITE, which she beliefs will benefit all the town’s inhabitants.
Her role will be to link the KAITE to possible investors and source donations, while also creating favorable media exposure for the entity.
The gala dinner, which served to raise funds for the upcoming expo, brought in N.dollars 105 000.
The funds were pledge by difference stakeholders, including businesses and individuals.
The expo, which will take place between 12 and 15 of September, aims to bring together partners in trading and build economic friendships for the prosperity of the town of Keetmanshoop and the nation at large.
Exhibitors from all over Namibia and South Africa are expected to showcase their products.
This year’s expo will also feature a music bash, comedy night, children-friendly TV games and motor sports.
The dinner also saw the official change of name of the expo from Keetmanshoop Agricultural Industrial Show to KAITE.
The change, according to the organiser, serves to accommodate the growth of the tourism industry.
