Police investigate death less than 2 kilometres away from where Valentine’s Day murder victim was buried…
RUNDU, Feb. 28 – Police in the Kavango East Region are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the death of an unidentified female whose body was located behind the Ministry of Information and Technology, south of Rainbow village.
According to multiple sources, a civilian reported the incident after coming across a body lying alongside the road.
The body was naked, and police have not ruled out foul play as they are still conducting investigations.
When contacted by this writer, Deputy Commissioner Vilho Kalwenya, Head of Operation Division in Kavango East, and current Acting Regional Commander said, “We discovered the body at 10h00 behind the Ministry of Information and Technology but we have not identified the person. We are calling on the public to come to the mortuary and assist, (if anyone has a loved one fitting the description) furthermore, we are not ruling out foul play as we continue our investigations.”
No traces of footprints nor car tire prints were visible, and the body appears partially decomposed, according to sources.
The next of kin have not been informed as the identity of the deceased is still anonymous.
The discovery of the body is spaced just over two weeks after a man strangled his on and off lover a day before Valentine’s Day before stashing her body in a shallow grave less than 2 kilometres away in the Tuhingireni location in Rundu. – Musa Zimunya
