Chinese Red Cross to donate 150,000 USD to drought-stricken Namibia
WINDHOEK, June 5 — The Chinese Red Cross Society will donate 150,000 U.S. dollars to help Namibia respond to recurring droughts, Chinese Ambassador to Namibia Zhang Yiming said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press briefing in Windhoek, Zhang said the embassy will hand over the donation as soon as possible to the Namibia’s office of the prime minister.
The ambassador said that the embassy is still assessing the drought situation and considering further possible urgent assistance.
“After our assessment, we will be able to establish how we can be able to offer more assistance,” he added.
