India’s transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been hailed as unstoppable by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar during his visit to Windhoek, Namibia. Speaking to the Indian community in Namibia, Jaishankar highlighted the progress made by India and its impact on Indians living abroad. He emphasized the country’s growing global influence and the goodwill it receives from nations around the world.
During his visit to Namibia, Jaishankar called on the top leadership of the country and held discussions with other government ministers. He also co-chaired the inaugural Session of the Joint Commission Meeting with Namibian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. These interactions further strengthen the bilateral ties between India and Namibia and pave the way for increased collaboration in various sectors.
Addressing the Indian community, Jaishankar expressed his condolences for the lives lost in the recent train tragedy in Odisha, India. Despite being physically present in Namibia, he assured the community that their thoughts were focused on the incident. The minister also highlighted the solidarity shown by global leaders, emphasizing how the world stands with India during difficult times.
India’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic played a crucial role in enhancing its global standing. Jaishankar pointed out that India was one of the few countries that stepped forward to provide assistance and support to nations in need. Unlike some other countries, India prioritized the requirements and needs of other nations, further cementing its reputation as a responsible partner on the world stage.
Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s Africa visit in 2018, Jaishankar reiterated India’s commitment to listening to the needs and priorities of other countries. This approach has garnered immense goodwill and respect for India, especially in Africa, Latin America, and other parts of Asia.
India’s diaspora has played a vital role in enhancing the country’s image abroad. The minister acknowledged that the Indian diaspora contributes to India’s benefits by promoting its positive image in foreign countries. At the same time, India’s growing capabilities and confidence have led to its recognition and respect worldwide. Jaishankar, drawing from his experience as a diplomat, affirmed that India is now a much more capable and confident country.
