Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba, the spokesperson for the TMPD, stated that the operation was initiated based on information about the planned delivery of diamonds. The TMPD’s K9 unit and other teams strategically positioned themselves at the location and awaited the suspects’ arrival. Upon their arrival in a white Honda vehicle, the four suspects were swiftly apprehended.
The suspects, consisting of three men and one woman, aged between 49 and 62, included two Namibian nationals. The authorities charged all four individuals with dealing in illegal diamonds and money laundering. They are scheduled to appear in court in the near future to face these charges.

This arrest follows a recent crackdown on illegal activities, as the TMPD members apprehended two individuals in Hammanskraal for alleged drug dealing. One suspect was found in possession of nyaope, a highly addictive drug, with an estimated street value of R28,000. The second suspect was arrested for dealing in dagga (cannabis) and was also found in possession of suspected stolen property, including flat-screen televisions.
The TMPD’s proactive approach, coupled with effective collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, demonstrates its determination to tackle various forms of criminal activity within the city. These recent successes underscore the commitment of the TMPD to uphold law and order while safeguarding the well-being of Tshwane’s residents.
