OTJIWARONGO, 16 MAY – The Otjozondjupa State of the Region Address (SORA) has been postponed from 17 May to 29 May 2018 by Regional Governor, Otto Ipinge.
Approached on Wednesday, Ipinge explained that the annual address is postponed due to the National Council’s sessions underway in Windhoek, where three constituency councillors are representing the region.
The three councillors are from the Tsumkwe, Otavi and Okahandja constituencies.
“And it is the same Regional Council’s Act of 1992, Act No. 22, which prohibits regional councils to hold meetings or extra-ordinary council meetings while the National Council is in session,” he said.
He called on the residents of the region to attend the SORA on 29 May, saying it is their total right to know from him what Government has achieved in the past 12 months, and what it is busy working on in the respective constituencies, towns and settlements.
Regional governors in the 14 regions usually deliver their SORAs after President Hage Geingob has delivered his annual State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Geingob delivered the SONA on 11 April 2018.
