REHOBOTH, 17 JUN – PC Blue Boys from Swakopmund avenged their first leg defeat to Khomas Namibian Police (NamPol) on Saturday in the Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) Coastal Stream in a hard fought 2-1 victory.
Khomas NamPol Football Club won the reverse fixture 5-2 in Windhoek last month.
Blue Boys took the lead in the first half through Wakendisa Kahimise for a 1-0 lead before Eliakim Ndjava equalised for the men in uniform on the stroke of halftime.
The halftime score was 1-1.
The second half saw Blue Boys take the lead again through the boot of Chrislee Gawanab to make it 2-1.
Speaking after the game on Saturday, coach of Blue Boys, Christy Guruseb said the game was a physical one, but they managed to come out tops.
“It was a very physical match with tackles flying in. Not a good game to watch, but in the end what matters is the three points we gained today,” he expressed.
Guruseb added that they were losing too many balls with their opponents playing long balls and winning the second ball.
“We tightened after the second half and started winning the second ball. We kept it close and played basic football and scored our second goal, the coach boasted.
NamPol coach, Gareth #Eichab said they conceded silly fouls and were punished from the resulting set pieces.
“We made fouls and Blue Boys used it wisely to score their goals. It is back to the drawing board for us.”
In the other Coastal match played in Walvis Bay, Flamingoes held log leaders Spoilers from Okahandja to a goalless draw.
Spoilers are still topping the log with 12 points followed by Flamingoes in second place with 11 points and PC Blue Boys also on 11 points coming in at third, having an inferior goal difference to Flamingoes.
