Our win will not distract us: Malembu

WINDHOEK, 19 JUL – Namibia’s win against Seychelles in the opening match of the Council of Southern African Football Associations (Cosafa) U-17 Championship is motivation for them to do even better, team coach Paul ‘Shakes’ Malembu has said.
The tournament is currently underway in Mauritius.
Namibia, who are in Group A alongside Botswana and host Mauritius, won their opening match 8-3 against Seychelles Thursday morning at the St Francois Xavier Stadium in Port Louis.
Speaking to Nampa via WhatsApp, Malembu said the result will motivate the players.
“We are headed back to the drawing board because we will not let this result go to our heads. We will talk to the boys not to lose concentration,” he said.
The coach added that the team conceded three early goals because they were nervous.
“We created good scoring chances, but scoring is still a problem. We are not going to celebrate this result because we want to concentrate on the tournament,” Malembu said.
Namibia’s next match in the competition will be against host nation Mauritius on Saturday at 11h00, Namibian time.
