WINDHOEK, Nov. 14– Namibia’s ruling party Swapo will hold its extra-ordinary congress from November 30 to December 1, according to the party’s secretary-general Sophia Shaningwa.
Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday, Shaningwa said the congress will deliberate on issues unfinished during the party’s sixth ordinary congress last November in the capital.
The media was informed that the party’s central committee had so far established structures in the form of preparatory committees that have been tasked with the various aspects of congress preparations.
President Hage Geingob, also chairperson of Swapo, is the current head of the national preparatory committee.
The national preparatory committee consists of sub-committees in documentation, legal affairs, security, transport, among others. – XINHUA
