REHOBOTH, 21 APR – The boys were separated from the men at the Kuisebmond Stadium in Walvis Bay on Saturday, when Tura Magic routed Swakopmund Football Club 9-1 in a Debmarine Namibia Cup Round of 16 match.
The Round of 16 matches were scheduled for Walvis Bay and Windhoek respectively, with teams vying for the last eight round.
Tura Magic started the game like a house on fire and scored four goals in the first half, leaving Swakopmund with a mammoth task to salvage something from the game.
The first half ended 4-0 in favour of Magic.
The start of the second half saw Tura Magic score a further five goals, with Swakopmund scoring a consolation goal.
The goal scorers for Magic were Oswaldo Xamseb with a treble, Theophilus Junius with four goals and Papi Kavezembi and Hadade Rafael with a goal apiece.
In a telephonic interview after the match, Tura Magic fitness coach Roy Hambira said the game was excellent as they took all their chances and were lethal in front of goal.
“We dominated from kick-off and scored four goals to put the game beyond their reach. They came back strongly in the second half and pressed us in the first 10 minutes, but our experience helped us to score five more goals to bury the game,” he said.
Hambira said their focus now is on winning the competition.
“We will take it game by game. We will on Monday start preparing for the next round as well as for the league, where we still have a chance to end third or fourth,” he said.
