WINDHOEK, 12 APR – Golden Bees Football Club coach, Hardley Ortner, has said his team’s preparations for the start of the North-West Stream First Division (NWSFD) are on track to fulfil their title aspirations.
Golden Bees will aim for maximum points when they confront Onambula United and Oshikuku Young Stars in league matches on Saturday and Sunday. The matches will be played at Tsandi and Oshikuku respectively.
The NWSFD will kick off this coming weekend after securing funding of N. dollars 200 000 from the Namibia Football Association.
Ortner on Thursday said he is happy that the league will finally kick off after a period of prolonged inactivity.
“We will capitalise on the fact that we had more friendly games in preparation for the league and also the participation in the Debmarine Namibia Cup that helped us to reach the sharpness we want in order to fight for maximum points in each game,” Ortner said.
He said the inactivity of most teams will also count in their favour.
“I believe the league win is attainable given that we focus on winning in every game,” he said.
The Outjo-based team also qualified for the Round of 16 of the Debmarine Namibia Cup.
Golden Bees will be banking on the experience of veteran midfielder Clemence Nangombe, who told this news agency they aim to win the league with a balanced team of experienced players who blend well with the youth.
“Our aim this season is to win the league. We can do it with more focus and discipline that comes with experience. We will approach each game like a final,” Nangombe noted.
