MARRAKECH, Jan. 14 – A last gasp free-kick swung in by Brave Warriors right back Riaan Hanamub met the head of defender Charles Hambira, resulting in a last second goal that places Namibia atop of group B ahead of the match between Uganda and Zambia.
Namibia made their debut in the CHAN competition in a game that lacked clear cut chances, although Petrus Shitembi tried his luck from the edge of the box in the first half to try and put the Brave Warriors ahead.
Meanwhile, the second half saw Ivory Coast’s William Togui cutting in from the left and rifling a shot, but it went off-target.
However, seconds toward the end, Namibia won a free-kick close to the touchline, which Hanamub flew in for the onrushing Hambira to head home and kill the game off in the dying seconds. – NDN Staffer
