EENHANA, 04 JUN – The Eenhana Trade and Business Expo gala dinner held on Saturday raised a total of N$400 072 in pledges and cash.
The money raised at the dinner annually is earmarked for the hosting of the expo, as well as for the construction of the ‘Expo Convention City’, which will serve as the future host venue for the expo and which the town council of Eenhana is developing at a cost of some N$70 million.
First National Bank Namibia, as the main sponsor of the 2018 expo, contributed the highest amount of N$75 000.
The second and third highest pledges of N$55 000 and N$50 000 were made by the Ondangwa Private Hospital and Standard Bank Namibia, respectively.
This is the 11th consecutive year that the Eenhana Town Council is hosting the expo.
Speaking at the fundraising event, the town’s mayor Amos Nangolo stated that his council has decided to go the extra mile in marketing and promoting Eenhana as a preferred destination for investment by hosting the expo annually.
“I want to assure you that we will account for every cent collected and the money will be put to good use and for the purpose it was earmarked for,” Nangolo said.
He then announced that the expo is scheduled to be hosted from 30 July until 04 August.
Nangolo said President Hage Geingob has confirmed that he will officiate at the official opening of the expo on 01 August.
First Lady Monica Geingos also attended the gala dinner on Saturday and used the platform to call on Namibians to strive for inclusive social and economic development for each citizen to live prosperously.
