REHOBOTH, 18 JUN – The Round 12 match between Black Africa Warriors and Sixty Eleven played in the Kunene Second Division Football League on Saturday in Outjo was stopped due to security reasons with Warriors leading 1-0.
League vice chairperson, Bensley Hanaseb on Sunday told Nampa the match had to stop because the safety of match officials was at risk.
“The report I received said the match had to be stopped because an altercation occurred between an assistant referee and a fan and they felt their safety was at risk. It was the responsibility of the home team, in this case Black Africa Warriors to organise the security for the match,” Hanaseb said.
He said the game will continue as it stands with Black Africa Warriors leading at a date still to be decided.
In other Round 12 matches played on Saturday, PUBS defeated Bethlehem Boys 3-0 at Etoshapoort Stadium in Outjo, while Robber Chanties took points in a walkover after Gariseb Orlando Pirates did not pitch for their game in Khorixas. Robber Chanties were awarded a 3-0 victory.
Log leaders Outjo Football Academy (FA) stretched their lead to seven points after hammering Green Dangers 6-0 in Kamanjab. In Opuwo, Kunene Namibian Police (NamPol) FC had a walkover against Revengers and was awarded a 3-0 victory after their opponents failed to show up for their match.
In the Okaukuejo derby played at Ombika Stadium, Young Eagles narrowly defeated rivals Etosha United 1-0.
Outjo FA are leading the log with 30 points, followed by Kunene NamPol in second with 24 points. Young Eagles are in third place with 23 points, followed by PUBS in fourth, also with 23 points, but with an inferior goal difference.
Etosha United are in fifth place with 19 points, while Gariseb Orlando Pirates are in sixth place with 18 points. Black Africa Warriors and Bethlehem Boys are coming at seventh and eighth respectively, with 15 points each and separated by a superior goal difference of Warriors.
Sixty Eleven are on 10 points in ninth and Revengers on 9 points in tenth place. Green Dangers are eleventh with 8 points and Robber Chanties are rooted to last with 7 points.
