SWAKOPMUND, 22 SEP – The Namibian-German Centre for Logistics and the Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) will host the 10th annual logistics and transport workshop and training day in Swakopmund next week.
The two-day event will be held under the theme ‘Enhancing African trade through hinterland connectivity’ on Thursday and Friday.
A media statement issued by WBCG’s Manager of Marketing and Communications, Cindy-Lu Hasheela on Friday said the theme focuses on connecting transport and logistics routes and activities throughout southern Africa – “not just the ports and the main transportation routes, but thoroughly ensuring that there is full connectivity when it comes to logistics in Africa at every point.”
“This year’s workshop will also create a platform to network, share ideas and discover best practices relevant to the logistics and transportation sector and is open to all logistics stakeholders interested in developing Namibia as a regional logistics hub,” the statement said.
Sessions will highlight developments within the country and deliberate on opportunities for future trade, which will include hinterland development, border management, single window initiatives; regional value chains and financing models.
“These topics will be discussed, presented and unpacked by national, regional and internationally acclaimed experts in their field, that showcase knowledge based on case studies and best practices.”
The workshop will be officially opened by Minister of Works and Transport John Mutorwa.
Germany’s Ambassador to Namibia, Christian Schlaga is also expected to deliver a speech at the event.
