SWAKOPMUND, Aug. 15 – An 18-year old girl, one of four occupants of a sedan vehicle which overturned early Monday morning outside Swakopmund, died on the spot after she was flung from the vehicle.
Approximately 20 kilometres from Swakopmund on the Arandis/Swakopmund highway, the vehicle is said to have veered off the road and overturned several times after the driver lost control of it. The other three occupants sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the Swakopmund State hospital for medical attention. The police are investigating the cause of the accident and a case of culpable homicide was opened against the 26-year old driver, who was apparently under the influence of alcohol. The deceased was identified as Nicole Tsela, a learner at a Windhoek Secondary school. – Marshallino Beukes
