RUNDU, 21 MAY – Rundu Chiefs netball team managed to extend their lead in the Kavango East Netball League (KENL) on Saturday when they hammered the University of Namibia (UNAM) Rundu Campus netball team 39-8.
The game played at the Rundu Sports Stadium netball court was dominated by Rundu Chiefs from the onset.
The team’s captain, Besbelia Hamunyera told Nampa after the match that the game was fine but the opposition gave them a tough time.
She said the team’s mission this season is to win the league in memory of the late Jesaya Nangolo, who was the chairperson of Rundu Chiefs, because he has contributed a lot to the team.
“The mission is to be unbeatable this season, we lost two games last year; we want to take the league this season,” said Hamunyera.
In other games, Cuca Tops took points against United Stars who did not pitch up for the match, while Julinho lost 11-20 against Afrocat.
Safety and Security of the Elizabeth Nepemba Correctional Facility won 20-17 against Shining Stars.
Chiefs now lead the league with nine points followed by Afrocat with nine points on goal difference, Cuca Tops in third place with six points and Safety and Security in fourth with six points, Shining Stars – three points and UNAM Rundu Campus with three points.
Julinho is second bottom in the league with no points followed by United Stars at the bottom of the table.
