No compromises for NamPol unit and station commanders

KEETMANSHOOP, 25 OCT – //Kharas Regional Commander in the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), Rudolf Isaak, has called on the officers and station commanders in his region to not compromise their service delivery despite prevailing austerity measures.
Isaak was speaking at the Station and Unit Commanders two-day conference here on Wednesday.
The conference is aimed at addressing issues affecting the performance of NamPol stations in the region and the root of not achieving the set targets for different dimensions.
Isaak reminded the station commanders of the various directives with regard to austerity measures, cost cutting and administration issued by the Office of the Prime Minister, saying it is high time that they conduct self-introspection to capacitate members and come up with more austerity measures to complement those that were already passed.
He further called on the commanders to improve their operations so that they can assist NamPol to improve on its ‘embarrassing” 54 per cent response rate.
Isaak added that it is a reality that no vehicle would be purchased for the next three years and also no recruitment will be done in NamPol.
“Therefore, if we do not take ownership, control and supervision of our resources such as vehicles, communication equipment [and] buildings, who else will?” he questioned.
He said there is a need to crack the whip on lazy commanders and that this should be done without fear and favour, adding that commanders who are not performing will face unspecified consequences.
The conference ends on Thursday.
