REHOBOTH, 19 Mar. – The North-East First Division (NEFD) Debmarine elimination final match between Bingo United Football Club and Eastern Chiefs was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch at the Rundu Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking to Nampa on Monday, Daniel Namwira, NEFD league administrator, said they had to think of the safety of players as the pitch was drenched.
“The game will however be played on Monday at 17h00,” Namwira noted.
The winner of the match will face Namibian Premier League (NPL) team, UNAM, in the Round of 32.
He said the other elimination matches went well without any incident and thanked the teams for being well behaved, and applauded the fans who came out in numbers.
“I must congratulate the teams for showing professionalism and always being on time. Our supporters who came out in numbers – we saw your passion, well done,” he noted.
The Round of 32 will see 13 second division regional winners and three first division winners joined by the 16 NPL teams.
