Madhuku urges organisers to be role models to athletes

WINDHOEK, 24 AUG  – Organisers and officials of this year’s Confederation of School Sport Associations of Southern Africa (Cossasa) Ball Games should be exemplary to the youth, the association’s president has said.
Johnson Madhuku made the call during the welcoming ceremony for teams here Thursday evening.
The 2018 games take place on Friday and Saturday at various venues for football, basketball, netball, hockey, volleyball, cricket, tennis and rugby.
Namibia is hosting Lesotho, Malawi, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and eSwatini.
Madhuku urged officials to be role models to the young athletes through their interactions and officiating.
“Some of these teams travelled over 3 000 kilometres for this competition and without these young athletes this competition will not be possible,” he said.
Windhoek Mayor Muzee Kazapua said in a message delivered on his behalf that the City has prioritised youth development as one of its focus areas in its transformation strategic plan of 2017 to 2022.
“I would like everyone involved in youth development to continue with this programme that empowers our youth to ensure a better tomorrow for our countries and the world at large,” said Kazapua.
