WINDHOEK, 09 JUL – A 20-year-old woman from Khorixas in the Kunene Region was allegedly raped by her biological father on Saturday.
According to a crime report issued on Monday by the Namibian Police Force, the victim arrived from Windhoek on Friday to visit her grandmother.
The report said while the victim was sleeping, the suspect allegedly entered her room at about 01h00 and started touching her before forcefully removing her underwear and having sexual intercourse with her, without her consent.
“The victim alerted her grandmother who reported the matter to NamPol,” it said.
The suspect fled the scene and has not yet been arrested.
In another incident, a 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped on Saturday while under the influence of alcohol by a co-worker at Old Smithfield Farm in Tsintsabis in the Oshikoto Region.
The suspect allegedly took advantage of the victim’s vulnerability and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent at about 23h00.
The suspect was arrested and the police investigation continues.
Meanwhile, a security guard at Okalindi supermarket in Single Quarters residential area in Windhoek on Saturday allegedly shot a 17-year-old boy who was attempting to steal money from a person who won money from a gambling machine in the supermarket.
The suspect is allegedly part of the Boko Haram Gang that is well-known for violently terrorising people in the area, the report said.
The suspect was taken to the Katutura State Hospital and his condition is stable. The guard was not arrested but the firearm used in the incident was confiscated.
