The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has seized assets valued at over N$2 million amidst a corruption investigation involving a Roads Authority staff member and supplier SA Scales Namibia (SASCO).
ACC spokesperson Josefina Nghituwamata revealed that fraudulent certification of a N$2.37 million invoice for a weighbridge was alleged, with claims that the older weighbridge was illegally removed and installed at Etango Petroleum instead of being stored as reported.
The stolen weighbridge is currently being leased by SASCO to Etango Petroleum for N$20,000 monthly. The ACC is pursuing additional charges of fraud, theft, and money laundering under the Anti-Corruption Act, emphasizing its commitment to eradicating corruption and urging all entities to maintain transparency in their dealings.
