Katima Mulilo, Aug. 15 – A 22-year-old woman from Lusaka, Zambia allegedly murdered her own son by suffocating him with a pillow because he was a hindrance to her partying lifestyle.
Maike Musowe and her boyfriend Mwila Chilufya Bwipa are now detained at Kabwata police station facing a possible murder charge.
According to sources, Maike who is originally from the Copper Belt came to stay with her sister in Lusaka.
She started a life of partying in various nightclubs around the capital city, neglecting her son Sangwani Chabinga who was two years and seven months.
This led the sister to chase Maike from her house and gave her transport money to return to the Copper Belt. Maike linked up with her lover and they booked into a lodge where they plotted to kill the child whom they perceived as a hindrance to their enjoyment.
After killing the boy they sneaked out of the lodge with the body and Maike returned to her sister’s place and laid the body on the couch as if he was sleeping.
Upon noticing that the child was unresponsive after being shaken, Maike’s sister allegedly rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Upon interrogation, Maike confessed to killing the child with the help of her boyfriend and they were arrested.
