NIMT director, deputy gunned down
ARANDIS, APRIL 15 – Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology personnel and students are in a state of shock after the shooting of Eckart Mueller, and Heimo Hellwig – the director and deputy directors (respectively) of the institution at the entrance to the main office building at Arandis earlier this morning.
Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, who is the Crime Investigations Coordinator of the Namibian Police in the Erongo Region, confirmed the incident although it is still a developing story.
It has been reported that an unknown gunman had waited for both Mueller and his deputy, and upon their arrival to work early in the morning, the gunman fired AT LEAST seven shots at close range which proved fatal to the victims.
