WINDHOEK, MAR 5 – The rape of a 13 year old Namibian female by a 28 year old Namibian male suspect was one of many that occurred over the past weekend. A weekend crime report issued by the Nampol dated March 4 revealed that on Friday 1 March between 00h00 and 01h00 at Casablanca Club in //Karas, the male suspect raped the minor and was later arrested to appear in the Karasburg Magistrate Court while Police investigations continued.
In another incident that happened on Wednesday 27 February at around 21h00 at Ndama Compound in Rundu, Kavango East Region, a 70 year old pensioner was raped by a 39 year old suspect while she was under the influence of alcohol.
“It is further alleged that the suspect met the victim who was on her way home from a certain shebeen, pushed her to the ground and had sexual intercourse with her whilst she was under the influence of alcohol and without her consent. The suspect was arrested and Police investigation continues,” according to the report.
Meanwhile on Sunday 3 March in the Hardap region, a 22 year old Namibian female was raped. The incident occurred between 05h00 and 06h00 at Erf 227 in Aimablaagte, where a suspect had sexual course with the victim under coercive circumstances and is currently in Police custody while investigations continue.
In another incident that occurred between Friday 1 March at 21h00 and Saturday 2 March at 05h00 at Kanan A location, Epako in Omaheke, a 37 year old female was raped by a 19 year old male.
“It is further alleged the victim who was under the influence of alcohol and en epileptic patient, was walking alone from a Bar back home, where she was approached by the suspect who is well known to her. The suspect misled her that her boyfriend was walking in front of them and upon reaching the suspect’s house, the suspect hit the victim with an unknown object on her face, she lost consciousness and further dragged the victim behind his house and has sexual intercourse with the victim without her consent under coercive circumstances… .”
The report continues to say that the suspect was found in the act of raping the victim by two passerby’s who then came to the victim’s rescue. The suspect was since arrested and is in police custody.
On Saturday 2 March at about 20h00 at Okatakamurungu village, Otjombinde Constituency, a 16 year old mentally challenged female was raped by a 31 year old male suspect. The report alleges that the suspect “who is well known voluntarily escorted a mentally challenged minor victim from a neighbouring homestead back to her residence. However, before reaching the intended destination, the suspect suddenly and aggressively ordered the victim to undress herself and thereafter had sexual intercourse forcefully with the victim under coercive circumstances.” The suspec was arrested and is in police custody. – firstname.lastname@example.org
