Mariental, Hardap Region, August 15, 2023 – In a dynamic movement aimed at driving positive change in the Hardap region, a group of five dedicated young individuals from Mariental has come together to form the “Community Voice” drama group. Spearheaded by visionary youth activist Simon Paulus, the troupe utilizes the power of storytelling and theater to address local challenges and amplify the voices of the region’s youth.
While Simon Paulus, 37, is known for his involvement in the local health sector, his passion extends beyond medical confines. Recognizing the potential of theater to engage and enlighten audiences, especially the youth, Paulus founded the “Community Voice” drama group. Through captivating performances, the group aims to spotlight pressing community concerns and foster unity and development across the Hardap region.
“It’s more than just theater; it’s a movement, a platform for our youth to collectively voice their concerns and advocate for change,” Paulus emphasized. The group believes in the storytelling’s ability to connect people and hopes to address community issues on stage, encouraging growth and solidarity within the beloved Hardap region.
Their reach won’t be confined to Mariental alone; the group plans to embark on a journey across the Hardap region, taking their performances to various towns and addressing a spectrum of local issues.
Their debut performance is slated for September during Suicide Prevention Week. The drama will shed light on the crucial topic of depression, particularly within African communities where the issue is often overlooked.
From education and healthcare to unemployment and environmental protection, the “Community Voice” drama group is equipped to explore diverse themes, educating and captivating audiences through relevant narratives.
Paulus’s enthusiasm for the group’s expansion is palpable, and he extends an open invitation to like-minded individuals to join their cause. “We’re searching for passionate individuals who want to be part of something larger than the stage. If you believe in the power of storytelling and wish to make a difference, our arms are wide open to welcome you.”
Understanding the importance of support, Paulus and his team extend an invitation to potential sponsors who share their vision. “To truly impact our region, we seek partnerships with organizations that believe in our youth’s potential and the urgency of our community’s issues,” Paulus stated.
