WINDHOEK, 17 MAY – The Tertiary Institutes Sports Association of Namibia (Tisan) has called up 25 football Namibia Premier League players for trials ahead of this year’s CUCSA games.
The Confederation of University and College Sports Associations (CUCSA) Region Five Games will this year be held in Botswana from 18 to 22 June.
The Tisan team will take part in football, seven’s rugby, volleyball (male and female), netball and athletics.
Tisan National Coordinator, Werner Jeffery said they have already selected football players from other regions and the central region will be the last.
“In the past we used to bring all players to Windhoek and then select the team but due to financial constraints, we have decided to divide the regions in four and choose a venue where those trials take place for a day and select players,” he told Nampa on enquiry Thursday.
He said they are still waiting to get money from the sports ministry to start preparing the entire Tisan team for the competition next month.
“The netball team will also later in the year compete at the World University Netball Championship that will be held in Uganda in August 2018,” Jeffery said.
