Nandi-Ndaitwah urges youth to build Africa

ONAMUTAYI, 28 APR  – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Friday called on the African youth to ensure that the whole continent is industrialised by 2063.
Nandi-Ndaitwah made the call while officiating a belated Independence Day celebrations organised by the community of Oshana Region’s Ongwediva Constituency at Onamutayi village.
The Deputy Premier believes senior citizens, especially politicians, have played their part by fighting for the independence of their respective African countries and created conducive environment for future leaders to be educated and become masters of their own destiny.
Nandi-Ndaitwah also encouraged the young people in Namibia to take vocational education and training seriously to acquire the competencies needed in the development of the country.
Countries around the world, Nandi-Ndaitwah noted, are architected mostly by graduates of vocational education and training.
She then pointed out that the Oshana Region is fortunate to have at its disposal two vocational training centres of Valombola at Ongwediva and Community Skills Development Centre at Ondangwa, where the young people receive vocational skills.
Nandi-Ndaitwah told her audience that negative attitude does not build or bring development to the country, while appealing to all citizens to fully support the government effort towards national social and economic development.
“Continue doing the right job. Advise your government. It is a listening government,” Nandi-Ndaitwah appealed.
She said the government has a responsibility of bringi development to all its citizens and will ensure that it delivers on that, but people also need to know its policies and programmes in order to understand what is expected of them.
The event was attended by the senior councilors and leaders of the Oshana and Omusati regions, including Oshana Governor, Clemens Kashuupulwa.
