WINDHOEK, July 27 — Namibia’s head coach, Allister Coetzee, has strengthened his support staff for the Rugby World Cup by bringing in the former England and Springbok forwards coach, Matthew Proudfoot.
With an impressive background in coaching at the highest level, 51-year-old Proudfoot’s primary responsibility will be to enhance Namibia’s scrum and lineout performances in the upcoming tournament in France.
Having previously collaborated with Coetzee at the Stormers and Western Province, Proudfoot was also part of the coaching team that led the Springboks to victory in the 2019 World Cup.
His recent stint as head coach of Maties in the Varsity Cup, where he guided the team to the semi-finals, further showcases his coaching prowess.
Coetzee expressed his delight in having Proudfoot join the team, acknowledging his world-class coaching ability and proven track record in developing and elevating forward packs. Coetzee is confident that Proudfoot will play a crucial role in taking Namibia’s game to the next level.
