Omega Security company is under fire after a video of one of its male managers who was manhandling a female employee went viral.
The cause of the argument, in which the manager is seen dragging the female employee has not been revealed.
The female employee has made a case against omega security.
Activist Micheal Amushelelo said on his status on social media: “We hereby inform the Omega Security company with immediate effect to suspend this black manager by the end of the business day”.
The activist urged that the video should go viral and said failure by Omega Security to act against the manager meant the company supported assaulting of workers.
Gender-based violence and mistreatment of workers have been on the rise in Namibia and have been covered up. the Namibian Constitution has laws in place that protect Namibian employees from activities that go against human rights and workers’ rights.
As seen in the CCTV footage other employees just looked on while the female employee was being manhandled fearing they might face the same treatment.
“While the company has policies in place for such activities, my colleague was mistreated because some managers think the company belongs to them,” said an employee who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of victimization.
