KEETMANSHOOP, July 13 – Keetmanshoop has been nominated as Town of the Year by the South African tv show Kwela, which is broadcast on DSTV channel KykNet.
The town that is situated in the //Kharas region has been nominated based on what it has to offer its inhabitants and tourists.
The prize for winning the award is N$1 million worth of advertisements on the TV show and a big party.
Voting lines will open for members of the public to vote for their favourite town from 17 July 2022 at 19h00 to 22 July 2022 at 12h00.
The town has been nominated because of the museum, the old historic buildings that are tourist attractions, the Neckertal Dam, and the Quiver tree Forest amongst others.
The competition pits Keeimanshoop against eight South African towns and the municipality is urging Namibians to vote for the town in large numbers.
Voters can SMS “Keetmanshoop” to 33157. The winning town will be announced on 31 July 2022 on DSTV Channel 144.
