OTJIWARONGO, 24 APR – A 30-year-old woman was raped and murdered, allegedly by her ex-boyfriend, at Outjo on Monday.
The body of the woman, who worked at a local restaurant, was found in a footpath behind the Sophia Shaningwa Fire Station, her face partly smashed in with a rock.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa they suspect the woman was raped and killed between 05h00 and 06h00 Monday morning.
“Preliminary police investigations indicate that she was walking from home to her workplace when the suspect caught up with her behind the fire station,” said Mbeha.
The 33-year-old ex-boyfriend of the deceased has been arrested in connection with the matter.
The couple have a five-year-old son and a daughter of nearly two years old.
The woman’s relatives have been informed of her death, said Mbeha.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Outjo Magistrate’s Court this week and police investigations continue.
