WINDHOEK, Nov. 13 -- Namibia Fisheries and Justice ministers resigned Wednesday following their implication in an international fishing bribery scandal, which reportedly generated kickbacks of at least 10 million U. S. dollars (150 million Namibian dollars) over four years. Their resignations come after local and international media exposed the two and others of corruption. In a statement President Hage Geingob stated that "following the severity of the allegations, Fisheries Minister Bernhard Esau and Justice Minister Sacky Shanghala had tendered their resignations". According to a local newspaper The Namibian, wikileaks documents pinpointed Essau, Shanghala as masterminds of a Namibian fishing licence donated to the Angolan government but ended up benefiting a few individuals. The newspaper reports that documents show that this fishing scheme could involve as much as 2.5 billion Namibian dollars. Xinhua
