RUNDU, 03 APR – A total of 23 criminal cases were reported here over the Easter weekend with theft topping the list, police in the Kavango East Region said on Tuesday.
Namibian Police crime investigations coordinator for the region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa business and residential area break-ins as well as driving under the influence of liquor are some of the cases.
Kanyetu elaborated that a 32-year-old man was arrested for drunk driving at the traffic circle of Eugen Kakukuru Street at around 17h45 last Friday.
The suspect is due to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
A 62-year-old man was also arrested on Saturday for driving under the influence of alcohol at the Masivi roadblock at around 19h50.
The Easter weekend, Kanyetu noted, was manageable with only a few serious incidents, compared to the same period last year.
